This Friday at KPS ...

Kingswood Photographic Society is absolutely delighted to welcome, for the first time, David Southwell ARPS as their speaker on Friday 14th October, giving his illustrated talk, Using HDR and Other Digital Techniques.

David says: “Although I have been using a camera since 1948 my approach to photography is constantly evolving. Photography is my chosen form of art. I love deploying differing technologies, techniques and styles and believe the science of photography may be seen as a servant of its art. I also enjoy teaching, judging and mentoring as a process which increases my understanding and appreciation of the work of others.

The best known collection of my work is the permanent installation of photographic art in the Bristol Royal Marriott Hotel on College Green. Most of the images are created using HDR techniques and are there in a Phototectural role. The architecture of the hotel is intended to help guests who come from all over the world to appreciate the city and its environs. The installation is designed to assist that objective and is seen by over 250,000 people every year.

I love creating images and never tire of the process or of engaging in projects which are often of long duration."

As you will see from these images, this promises to be a really good evening so we hope to see you there.

Remember also to bring your entry for the AP/FT Panel Competitions, as it is Hand In night.

Kingswood PS meet Fridays at 7.30pm for 7.45pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol BS30 5JJ. Visitors are very welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00.
