Photowalk around Westonbirt Arboretum, Friday 28 August

The main aim of the KPS Photowalk around Westonbirt was to see the chainsaw artists at work, creating extraordinary wood sculptures. Many of the 12 sculptures produced stand over 6ft tall, the largest this year being at least 9ft. The heaviest was an amazing sculpture of a shire horse, weighing around three tons, quite unusual.

The light was challenging due to the intermittent rain clouds but, nonetheless, there were still a lot of photographic opportunities.

The poor light encouraged us to retreat to the local hostelry. Over a 'pie and a pint' the talk turned to sources of creativity and inspiration for photographers. There was agreement about the value of visiting as many exhibitions as possible. Watch this space for further suggestions of where to go for KPS members
