This Friday at KPS ...

Kingswood Photographic Society is absolutely delighted to welcome Nigel Hicks FBIPP, as their speaker on Friday 26th January, who will be giving a digital image presentation entitled Wild Southwest.  Nigel is also a member of National Geographic Creative.

Nigel says: “My talk will look at the landscape and nature aspects of my photography, initially introducing my style and subject matter as it relates to photography projects I've undertaken around the world. I will then move to focus in on how this style has been applied to photography much closer to home, in the production of the book Wild Southwest: the landscapes and wildlife of southwest England, which was published about a year ago. This part of the talk will look at my landscape and wildlife photography around southwest England, demonstrating firstly that the techniques are universal regardless of where in the world you are photographing, and secondly that you do not have to travel to the ends of the Earth to capture fantastic landscape and nature images - we have some remarkable stuff right in our back yard!

This all comes together as part of my own personal reasons for having become a professional photographer in the first place - that we really need to actually see the beauty of the world all around us (rather than just glancing at it in passing), that we take it all for granted at our peril, because in complacency lies the road to ruin, and finally that there really is great beauty very close to home that we need to fully appreciate and safeguard for the future.”

For further information about Nigel Hicks, pop onto his website, http://www.nigelhicks.com/, from which you’ll see why this promises to be a fascinating and absolutely superb evening.  We hope to see you there.

Kingswood PS meet Fridays from 7.30pm to around 9.30pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol BS30 5JJ.  Visitors are most welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00.
