This Friday at KPS ...

Kingswood Photographic Society is absolutely delighted to welcome John Tilsley APAGB, DPAGB, ARPS & Di Tilsley  APAGB, CPAGB, as their speakers on Friday 3rd February who will be giving their print and digital image presentation entitled Inspiration and Perspiration.

John and Di will be showing a variety of subject matter.  John shows prints in the first half, with the chance for these to be closely viewed during the break, followed by Di’s projected images.

John and Di say:  “We are both very much ‘outdoors-y’ people and this reflects in our photography preferences and styles.  We take photos of landscapes, street scenes, candid portraits and some nature.

Inspiration and Perspiration, the production of a good photographic image which is a combination of an original idea and some hard work  -  hard sometimes in order to physically get the image and hard sometimes in doing the right post-processing!  However, in the processing we don’t dramatically alter the reality of what we saw when imagining and taking the image, it usually just tweaks the photograph so you can see what we thought we saw .....!  Personal photography is about establishing your own style, drawing on the work of others but adding your own unique interpretation, rather than copying trends.

This won’t be a technical lecture where we explain what we did, but a running commentary on what appealed to us and why we took the images, some background to the places we visit and sometimes showing the difference in the photos taken by a husband and wife team in the same place! “

This promises to be a super evening so we hope to see you there.

Kingswood PS meet Fridays from 7.30pm to around 9.30pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol BS30 5JJ.  Visitors are most welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00.
