This Friday at KPS ;...

Kingswood Photographic Society is absolutely delighted to welcome Tim Knifton CPAGB, AFIAP, PSA*7, AWPF, as their speaker on Friday 24th June who will be giving a digital image presentation talk entitled The Art of Urban Exploration.

Tim says: “I first joined a camera club many years ago and although I do not actively belong to one at the moment, I have made many friends and have learnt most of my photography through personal experience and the doing rather than going to college. I started back in the days of the humble Canon EOS 350D and worked my way through the models to shooting full frame Canons.

I started photographing everything and anything from models, motor sport and travel to macro but I have recently rekindled my passion for land and seascapes following a trip to Iceland in April this year. My main interest is the photography of derelict, mostly off limit, unseen buildings. This is the art of Urban Exploration (or Urbex) as it's known.

My presentation will show some of the work I have done over the last five years and I hope to show you some of the places I have had to privilege to see. These will include grand manor houses, industrial spaces, abandoned vehicles, castles, residences and historic buildings from the UK and to Bulgaria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and the Ukraine. Although my time with you is brief and wish I could talk all night, I also provide more detailed talks based on entirely Italy and Chernobyl (that includes the abandoned city of Pripyat). Those who are as old as I am will remember the disaster in 1986 and the impact on the people and the world.”
