Chris says: “I spent three years photographing some of the world’s most endangered mammals. I will talk about the stories behind the photographs, and share my techniques and vision for the future of conservation photography.”
Chris Weston became a professional wildlife photographer in 2001 in order to follow his passion for what he describes as “the extraordinary behaviour of wildlife”. His contemporary approach to photography led to Amateur Photographer magazine describing him as “One of the most dynamic wildlife photographers working today.” He specializes in photographing mammals and endangered species and is renowned for his ability to connect with wildlife and reveal the often hidden personalities of his subjects through his images.
His work is published globally, with clients including the BBC, ITV, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent, The Guardian, and National Geographic. In 2011 his images were selected by The Sunday Times magazine for its feature titled “The Year’s Best Animal Photographs”.
Chris’s work is driven by conservation. In 2009, he published the iconic book Animals on the Edge: Reporting from the Frontline of Extinction, which has been described as “The most up-to-date visual survey of our world’s rare and endangered species.” The book led to Chris co-founding the charity Animals On The Edge and he is directly involved in the charity’s work expanding tiger territory in Kanha National Park, in India, and supporting a lion release program in Zimbabwe. In 2011 he was named by Outdoor Photography magazine as one of the world’s “40 Most Influential” wildlife photographers.
