Kingswood Photographic Society is
absolutely delighted to welcome Ray Grace
ARPS, DPAGB, as their speaker on Friday, 20th Marach giving
an illustrated and educational talk entitled Nice is not good enough (making the most of your images).
Ray
says: “I love photography. I love taking pictures and I love looking at
pictures. I tend to think of myself as a landscape photographer as it is
something I enjoy in accompaniment with my love of hill and mountain walking.
However, in recent years I’ve expanded my horizons and I now enjoy macro photography,
particularly with flowers, where I try to look for patterns and textures.
Additionally, I love all forms of wildlife and am currently try to develop my
skill as a bird photographer.
I’m
a great believer in drawing the best out of my pictures at the post-processing
stage. This was true when I was a darkroom worker but now it is even more so.
The tools at the disposal of digital photographers are amazing and I firmly
believe we should all make the most of them. ‘Nice’ (a word used by camera club
judges a lot) is not good enough. We all like to get as much right in the
camera as possible but, quite often, that is not enough, and some ‘tweaking’ is
required. This talk is designed for those who might be new to photography or
nervous of Photoshop with the intention of showing just how easy it is to take
an ‘out of camera’ image and improve it.”
For further information about Ray, pop onto the website, http://www.raygracephotography.co.uk/, from which you’ll see why this promises to be an informative and really
