This Firday at KPS

Kingswood Photographic Society is absolutely delighted to welcome, John Gould FRPS as their speaker on Friday 29th November, giving an illustrated talk, ‘All the colour’s of the rainbow - revisited?’.

John has a love of toning black and white images sometimes simply for archival treatment but more often for the aesthetic and unique appeal it can produce.  For example the development of a warm tone paper, such as Forte Poly-Warm Tone or Ilford Warm-Tone MG, in a cold-tone developer and subsequently toning the print in selenium. The end result gives a split tone with cold/bluey mid-tones and highlights and rich reddish brown shadows.

Currently John has been taking nudes which are shot using a large format camera and black and white film which he finds calls for a more considered and deliberate approach.  His aim is to pre-visualise the final image from taking through to the final analogue printing. He prefers to photograph using natural light for the softness and subtlety it can produce, but is equally happy to work in a studio.

This promises to be an interesting evening so we hope to see you there.

Kingswood PS meet Fridays at 7.30pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol BS30 5JJ.  Visitors are most welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00.
