This Friday at KPS ...

Kingswood Photographic Society is absolutely delighted to welcome for the first time, Dave Yates as their speaker on Friday 1 February, giving an illustrated talk, ‘My Photography’.

Dave say: “I started photography in 1992 as a monochrome darkroom worker. In those days, time was limited so the majority of my photography was ‘studio work’ which allowed me to take out my camera every week, produce an image and learn the tricks of the darkroom.

Things have moved on considerably since those days, with the advent of digital photography and my early retirement from work, I have been able to broaden my base.

My wife and I travel extensively, which allows me to cover a wide range of subjects, landscapes, pictorial and of course my favourite, portraits.

I work in both mono and colour and enjoy covering a wide variety of subjects, which hopefully will please most audiences.

In 2008 I was elected a member of The London Salon of Photography and in 2010 I became Chairman, a role I continue in to this day. www.londonsalon.org

My presentation at ‘Kingswood’ is sponsored by Fotospeed and will include both monochrome and colour images, ‘Paris by Night’ ‘American Dream’ and infra-red photography. A selection of my images may be viewed on my website www.daveyatesphotography.com. Some of the images I will be showing will be darkroom prints and therefore do not feature on my website.”

This promises to be an absolutely superb evening so we hope to see you there.

Kingswood PS meet Fridays at 7.30pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol  BS30 5JJ.  Visitors are most welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00.

REMEMBER, it is also HAND IN for the First Quarterly Competition.  Competitions are a great opportunity to receive feedback on your images and to share your photographs with other members.

NEXT WEEK, is a Multi-Disciplined Digital Workshop when some members of the Society will educate us with demonstrations of how they produce their pictures.
