Kingswood Photographic Society is
absolutely delighted to welcome back, Terry Nicholls as their speaker on Friday
23rd November giving an illustrated talk Rio Grande Experience.
Terry says: “I have been taking colour slides
for over 50 years and my combined hobby of photography and a life-long
enthusiasm for railways has taken me to many parts of the world. Previous slide
presentations for KPS include China
and India/Pakistan which were mainly to photograph the rapidly disappearing
steam scene.
In more recent years I have
tended to observe and record the modern railway in addition to the preservation
movement. After my first visit to the USA in 1995, I have returned
several times not only to photograph trains, but the landscape, too. My main
objective is to combine these two and “Rio
Grande Experience”, I hope, will display just
that!
Starting from Denver,
Colorado, we encompass the various routes over
and through the Rocky
Mountain ranges to the
Pacific coast. In addition to the railway aspect, images from many other scenic
locations are included. Our journey ends with scenes of the world’s largest
working steam locomotive crossing Wyoming.
In short, if you don’t like
trains, then just admire the spectacular scenery.”
As you will gather from the above, this promises to be an excellent
evening.
Kingswood PS meet Fridays at 7.30pm
at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol BS30 5JJ. Visitors are most welcome and the cost for
this evening is £3.00.
