Our speaker, Dr Greg Duncan, purchased his first SLR in 1964 at the age of 18. However, as happens to many of us, study, work and family commitments meant that photography took a back stage after a few years. He resumed his interest in photography in 1997 and working in slides he obtained his LRPS in 1999 followed in 2000 by his ARPS, his CPAGB in 2011 and DPAGB in 2012. He is currently completing his AFIAP application and his 2 star PSA certification.
Having worked professionally in the software development and testing business since 1968, Greg embraced digital imaging with a somewhat different approach. He taught digital imaging for the local adult education classes and the Field Studies Council; produced his own Photoshop instruction CD (Dr G) in 1999; has had articles published in the RPS Journal, Amateur Photographer and Photography Monthly and conducted his own very successful set of master classes. In addition, Greg has used his software development experience to write some of his own digital manipulation software, including, most recently, a set of plugin filters for Photoshop. These include a luminance noise reduction process which has minimal impact on image detail.
He has treated Photoshop and digital imaging as not merely tools for producing images but also as items to be tested.
His talk includes both short AV's, demonstrations, a bit of magic and a lot of education. It is aimed at non-technical photographers who find themselves faced with the digital world.
As you will see from his website, www.kenebec.com, this promises to be an absolutely superb evening, and Greg has kindly said that if anyone wants to purchase his filters, he offers a 25% reduction on the night eg £15 instead of £20.
Kingswood PS meet Fridays at 7.30pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol BS30 5JJ. Visitors are most welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00.
We look forward to seeing you there.
