This Friday at KPS .....

Kingswood Photographic Society is absolutely delighted to welcome back, John Tilsley, ARPS, DPAGB, APAGB as their speaker on Friday 7th September giving an illustrated talk.

John says: “This is I think my fourth visit to Kingswood to show my latest prints. Older members will know that in the past all the work that I have shown has been monochrome prints produced in the darkroom. Well, the dinosaur has finally embraced the digital world and this time the prints shown will also include both colour and, ”shock horror” monochrome digital images. I will be interested to hear the views of your members’ on how the digital monochrome compares with the darkroom prints.

My first talk was entitled “Developing a Photographic Style” and I am still striving to put my interpretation (I am reluctant to say unique) on the subjects I choose to photograph. As always I will share with the audience through the prints how I arrive at what I consider are the key shots from each shoot. My subjects are varied from the extreme cold of midwinter Finland to the heat of Northern Greece with as usual an emphasis on people.

I do not take pictures with competitions in mind. I like to exhibit work in the form of panels. I firmly believe that each image should stand in its own right. It is not how it is produced that is important but why the photographer took it. This is I hope the philosophy which lies behind my talk.”

This promises to be an absolutely superb evening so we hope to see you there.

Remember to bring your entry for the Third Quarterly Competition, as it is Hand In night.

Kingswood PS meet Fridays at 7.30pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol  BS30 5JJ.  Visitors are most welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00.
