This Friday at KPS ...

Kingswood Photographic Society is absolutely delighted to be able to welcome, for the first time, Nick Jenkins AWPF, ARPS as their speaker on Friday 3rd February, giving his illustrated print talk entitled ‘The Great Outdoors’.

Nick started photographing landscapes some 30 years ago as an extension to walking in National Parks and outdoors generally. Chris says, “My photos always came back from the developers looking flat and uninspiring - and certainly NOT what I saw when I was 'out there'! I vowed to myself that this would all change and that I would seek to discover how to really give the viewer the feeling I had whilst walking and photographing.

I seek to place the viewer where I am/was - giving that sense of awe I experienced. I aim to use light to best effect and to use the elements of the image to give a 3D look and feel to my work.

I love all forms of outdoor photography and have recently started exploring nature through a macro lens - tremendous fun! If pressed, I would admit to preferring coastal and waterfall photography but that in NO WAY means I don't thoroughly enjoy just being out there with my camera!”

As you will see from these images, this promises to be a really good evening so we hope to see you there.

Tonight is also Hand In for the first Quarterly competition so, KPS members, remember to bring your entry.

Kingswood PS meet Fridays at 7.30pm for 7.45pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol BS30 5JJ. Visitors are very welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00.
