Our President, John Long ARPS, DPAGB, Hon PAGB will be showing some photographs from the Kingswood Archives on Friday 27 January.
John says, “I will have on display the three Albums (or scrap books), pictures and newspaper cuttings from 1948 to 2000. I will show pictures from our ‘general’ collection of prints together with a few recollections about the photographers, and finally the Bennett-Salanson Bowl Pictures (Best print in the Exhibition) from 1963 - 2011.”
John has chosen the photograph Silver Birches by Jack Bennett, a former member of KPS who won the Bennett-Salanson Bowl on four occasions as an example of what is in store.
This evening offers a rare opportunity to have a glimpse of photographic styles of KPS members and to discover whether there is an emphasis on particular subjects over a period sixty plus years. It promises to be a fascinating evening.
Visitors are very welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00. Kingswood PS meets Fridays at 7.30pm for 7.45pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol BS30 5JJ.
