This Friday at KPS ...

We are delighted that two members of Kingswood Photographic Society's, Peter Philips LRPS and Vanessa Herring LRPS have agreed to show us some of their images.

Peter and Vanessa have some similar photographic experiences. They are both enthusiastic photographers, obtained a Licentiateship from the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) and first owned a SLR camera in 2002/3.

Tonight, they share with us their different photography journeys over the last eight years.

Peter says, “I aspire to be a landscape photographer and aim to capture the beauty and appreciate the aesthetics of the great outdoors to share with others. To show the variety of landscapes with its ever changing moods, dramas and the feelings they invoke. Seascapes at dawn or dusk, in particular, feed my passion for photography. With a 40 year career in photographic science I have learnt the craft of photography. Since my retirement five years ago, I have been attempting to learn the art and soul of photography. You will find that I also ‘try my hand’ with other genres, for example, portraits, street and travel photography are areas I seek to develop”.

Vanessa, whose husband, Adrian Herring ARPS, DPAGB, is a Fotospeed Photographer comments, “I feel that my sight is enlightened when looking through my lens. I consider myself a generalist photographer but I especially enjoy looking for the unusual, maybe capturing something that others might walk past. I believe that a single image is a reflection of a moment in time, so it can have an historic relevance. For me, photography is a delightful hobby and, perhaps, my passion for it will help enthuse others in their pursuit of this art form”.

We are in for an interesting evening, so see you there. Visitors are very welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00. Kingswood PS meets on Fridays at 7.30pm for 7.45pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol BS30 5JJ.
