This Friday at KPS ...

Kingswood Photographic Society is absolutely delighted to be able to welcome back Tom Dodd FRPS, FIPS, DPAGB as their speaker on Friday 10th June, giving his illustrated print talk entitled ‘The Darkroom and Beyond?’.

Tom says: “A serious interest in photography happened in the early 1960’s, discovering the darkroom and related monochrome processing and printing, and eventually colour printing as well.

Since then national and international exhibition photography has provided a challenge, with the usual smattering of acceptances, and rejections. However, one of the greatest privileges was to be invited to select at salons and exhibitions on a fairly regular basis, and also to be asked to lecture to clubs and societies throughout the UK.

In 1979 I gained an RPS Fellowship and more recently the Fellowship of The Irish Photographic Federation and a DPAGB!

I was a member of the RPS Licentiate Panel for many years, eventually taking over the Chair from the late Joan Wakelin. Since then I have been a member of the Visual Art Panel and am currently Chair of The Travel Panel, and have also been invited a number of times to judge at PAGB Distinction Assessments.

Some twenty years ago I was elected to membership of The London Salon of Photography and acted as Chair during 2008/2010.

I try not to become too narrow in my approach to photography and if possible try to photograph anything that appeals.

In a related sphere, I have a continuing involvement with mountaineering and travel throughout the UK, Alps, Nepal and the Arctic.

The ‘digital’ revolution has now taken over – and I am loving it --- !!”

This promises to be an excellent evening and for a further taster of some of the treats that are in store, pop onto Tom's website.

Kingswood PS meet Fridays at 7.30pm for 7.45pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol BS30 5JJ. Visitors are very welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00.

We hope to see you there.
