Chippenham Town Council in association with The English Civil War Society are organising a major Civil War re-enactment in Monkton Park, Chippenham on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June 2011. It will commemorate the turbulent events of July 1643 when a Parliamentarian force chased a Royalist army towards the river crossing and The Battle of Chippenham.
The site is open from 11.00am to 5.00pm and displays will feature a living history encampment, drills of pike, musket, cavalry and cannon and culminate each day in a major battle at 3.00pm. Admittance to all events is FREE.
Anyone from KPS interested to go on Sunday 26, meet at the Olympiad SN15 3PA car park at 1.30pm for informal shots and action battle shots from 3pm.
There is parking at the railway Station and elsewhere in Chippenham but do allow plenty of time to find a parking space! The Olympiad is at the edge of Monkton Park and is also close to the Railway station
Hope to see you there, Rod Wainwright
