Friday, 26 November at KPS

26th November sees one of Kingswood Photographic Society's members show her Fellowship and Associate work as part of a talk entitled Hop Skip & Jump with Shirley Britton FDPS, ARPS. The charity by the same name is local to Kingswood at Warmley, Bristol, helps children and their families to cope with trauma through all sorts of situations, generally linked to disability. Shirley tries to show that children labelled disabled are children, just like every other child, enjoying bright colours and all the normal aspects of a child’s life. Whiz Kid, is typical of the child photos which have won her photography international awards.

In the second half we will explore Shirley’s other creative photography sharing what she is working on now…. This is a chance to see things that no one else has seen.

Sam won the Bennett-Salanson Bowl for the best print in the Kingswood Photographic Society Annual Exhibition this year.

Whatever the subject of photography she is doing, Shirley says, “I want to see in the finished image, what I saw in my imagination when I took the picture, that which is unique to each of us … get it right in my brain, then use technology to achieve it”.

Shirley is also Chair of the group
Photographers with Disabilities.

Kingswood PS meet Fridays at 7.30pm for 7.45pm at St Barnabas Church Hall, Warmley, Bristol BS30 5JJ. Visitors are very welcome and the cost for this evening is £3.00.

We hope to see you there.
