I strongly recommend those of you who have iPhones, get hold of the new light meter application. It's currently free in the iTunes Store and is absolutely perfect for when you are on the move and want an independent device for checking light levels.
I installed it this morning and then checked the reading against the metering in my Canon G9. if anything, the app seemed more accurate!

A short note for my USA users: the annoying bug with incorrect display of iAds is fixed. I submitted an update to Apple half an hour ago. It will be published as soon as the reviewer at Apple approves it.
